Okay fella give me the low down on the most affordable and most reliable Athlon Slot A that is to hit over the 1ghz. I've seen that the 750 does a 1.1ghz quite nicely. Don't spam me because I said Slot A. Its just that my buddy might give it away so I'm using it to my advantage. Let me know what else is a good O/C for a budget price.

I'd go t-bird core...
I bought my 750 tbird off Ebay for 41 US....
and I've taken it into the ghz....

And say the slot A thing didn't go through. What other AMD chips will give me nominal speeds at penny saving price?

well durons and celerons clock pretty high..
but they have internal cache sizes....
which will hinder their performance...
and u'd need a good quality socket A mobo to OC the chip...
and well as good cooling...
so u'd end up payin more for 'peripheral' stuff needed to OC that cheap cpu...
where as SLOT A mobo's and cpu's are cheap, and they run cooler,
I got an ABIT mobo and a SLOT A 750 tbird for less than $120..
where as u're lookin to spend at least twice that on anything new
