everywhere I read its all about the x1950. Stick with the traditional and you will be a winner.

X1950PRO and 7900GS pretty much cost the same, but X1950PRO seems to perform slightly better.
By the way, don't bother worrying about whether the video card is Sapphire or XFX or whatever. I know I'm asking to get flamed for saying this, but brand means nothing in terms of performance. You should only care about brand when it comes to the package that comes with the card (cables, games, etc.) and whether the card is slightly pre-overclocked.

Not sure about some of the others, but my x1950 Pro does indeed support smartshader 3.0. It says right here on the box.
