What parts do you need for a cryo system. Something I can build or buy easily. Price $200 or less. Please give all parts needed or websites I can go to.

Well depends on what type of cryo system you want to go with.

Or do you just want a really quiet system?

Welcome to the boards.

What do you mean by a "cryo" system? If you mean super cooling your system, then add a few more zeros in front of your limit.

Give us a little more detail about what you mean. What are you trying to cool, just the cpu or the whole computer? What do you have currently? ...

You're not gonna find a "Put Tab 'A' in Slot 'B'" type kit for that cheap... If you're proficient in A/C or Refridgeration, you could probably purchase a used compressor and build a system around it. I've heard of people doing that for under $200. Ol' Man is also using a chilled liquid cooling method that I think came in under $100... So, it can be done if you're willing to get your hands dirty and know a lil bit about what you're doing...
Peace

Yeah, if you are close to Fargo,ND I will sell you mine:D I can't use it cause I don;t have enough juice coming into my apartment. Just to let you know how well it works.

If you look at a tualatin chip it has transistors under the base? Well two of those transisotrs had icicleshanging off of them. Now that is cold to the core;) Ironically that is not a good sign to have them there. I didn't use any sort of protection on the back side of the CPU. I should have sealed it up with some rubber cement and foam inside the socket. Well the chip is fine and I am currently running it with a pal 6035.

I was joking about selling it. I think #rotor has some good stuff if you have the cash. I think you are looking at about $500 though for it all. Otherwise it owuld be one of the best ways to quiet a system down other than water cooling with a rad.

Well the funny thing is I was in Fargo last week. Visiting from Minot,ND. It sure was cold up there.

Now to all of the questions people have. I want the cheapest super cooling refridgerator type system. I can build this on my own. Just say get this part at Radio Shack and that on at Home Depot and I'll be good to go.

Check out my website (in my profile).. I made a Vapochill-style phase change cooler.. Cost under $200 & it's totally compact & portable.. I've had it running an ave. of 70hrs+/week for the past 4 months with no trouble at all.

I've got almost all the details you'd need to make your own up on my site.

Well dude that was very very impressive. I may have to do this with the compressor in my fridge if I don;t get rid of it. This may be my next projct. You make it look easy. I can't believe you don't have some kind of fan blowing on the compressor. Eveyone I talk to says you need a fan blowing on the compressor. This is a very quiet system i bet. To bad you can't cool off your other heat producers like the vid card and chipset and PSU. If you could cool all those then it would be a absolutely quiet system except for the girrrrrrrr of the compressor.

Nice but I have to ask you I saw this at your website.

Again, I used Sandra2001SE and 3DMark2000 for my testing. I also through in a screen from WCPUID. Check out that rating.. PR2281!! (In case you don't know what this rating means, it's a comparable 'INTEL' Mhz speed.. 2281Mhz!! This means that this PC is running as fast as an Intel 2281Mhz CPU would run!)

Uhhhhh, so you think it would take a .13u tualatin running at 2281MHz to equal your chip. A .13u tualatin at 2281MHz would sheeeeeemoke your 1.7GHz machine.

I was wondering then what you think about this then. Seems I have a chip equal to a 2392MHz Intel chip. Wait I have a Intel chip. Hmmmmmmm, something is suspicous here:D Maybe it needs a little editing.

Otherwise though I would say you have a very nice setup once again. That is sweet, I can't get over it man:)

ol' man you could also build a Computerator (http://www.pcrivals.com/projects/computerator/index.shtml) for ~$100.

Hey, I don't write the programs... That's what the PR is supposed to be... I can't help it if it's not accurate... ;)

Sounds good doesn't it?

Look at AMDs new XP processors.. They're labeled with this PR system.. (1800XP is really a 1400Mhz [I think])

Oh, & I have the fan from the fridges' condensor blowing on the compressor & I put a fan behind the compressor, blowing out (pulling off the compressor). It's not totally quiet, but not bad at all.

If you do make a rig like this, let me know.. I've had a ton of people tell me they were going to, but no one has yet & I'd love to see someone else do it...

No not really! I like AMD but I also like my celery more.

I can't bitch at 1550MHz and it is sucking less than half the juice yours is. Imagine what I could hit with that system and this celery? There is no way I could get a athlon to go in this apartment as I can barely keep up with the smaller wattage celery I got. My juice is bad and a UPS didn't help. Not sure what the problem is but it does suck.

athlon vs. celeron guys....gotta think about that one...HMM? Duron vs. P4? LOL. i think you see what i'm coming to now. :D
