Isnt your score a bit low for a Ti500? I got 6539 with my Ti200 @ 220/485.

Yes, I agree, you should be getting a lot higher score. Unless you're running at a higher res for the benchmark. I have a MSI Ti200 running at 520/515 and a Athlon 1.2 @ 1386 (154x9) and my score is 7504. Benchmark runs at default resolution 1024x768 24-bit.
I got my Visiontek GF3 Ti500 to 260/570, and I've seen a few folks with as high as 265/600, but I'm not going that high until I get a cooler for it, and maybe a better fan. 3DBenchmark2k1 crashed at 261 for me. 3Dmark 2K1 score is "8223". Love this graphics card!

I've been playin' around w/ my PNY Ti500 for the last few days. Added a different fan about a month ago but I got to thinking this afternoon (read: Just couldn't leave the card well enough alone)
I removed the sink, took off the silly heat pad, and put on some radio shack thermal grease. I had taken apart an old dead Pentium 100 notebook a few months ago and it had a really nice copper finned heat sink above the processor. I saved it until..today!!!
I cut away the good section and used a few dabs of epoxy and some Arctic Silver to insert it into the void where the original fan was (see attached). Following the core cooling mod, I'm able to run 265 Core and 575 memory. But I think I'm experiencng the Via chipset bug. Can't get above 7100 in 3Dmark01. Should really be seeing closer to 8000.

Willy, how many PCI slots does that card eats up after the mod fan, 2? That's a monster.

How high can you go with a gf3ti 200 b4 additional hs is recommended? I got mine at 235/510, and wondering if I should go for a new HS, or tune it down. In 3d mk 2001 I can get a score of 8400. My compare link is in my sig.

I just got mine up to 260/595 with stock cooling. I can't wait to see what it will do with some water cooling.

I got a PNY ti 200 and my 3dmark 2k1 score is 7741 ,what drivers are you useing,I get the best results from the 22.80's .I lost 200 pts with the 23.11 ,I dunno why ,I am thinking they are SSE optimized because the score increases with XP processors.

Hmmmm.. Yep! :) But the card is runnning fine (knocking on wood), and I really haven't been running it overclocked too much. I want this card to last so the cooling mods in my eyes were important.
The thermal pad is the thickness of approx an audio/data cd. Way too thick IMHO!
My Asus 8200-T5 Deluxe (Ti 500) is absolutely, positively stable at 266/603 with stock cooling.
Before you guys say a card is stable, it should pass 3DMark2000 with no snow in the Helicopter sequence, nor bits of flashing textures in the Adventure sequence (look closely and be honest now).
It should run 3DMark2001 with no hangs.
You should run something like the highly stressful Quaver demo in QuakeIII at maxed settings.
You should download Artifact Tester 5.0 and run BOTH the Hardcore DirectX7 test and the Software Test (2D). I bet it won't pass the latter with 0 artifacts.
My Asus card did all the above at 266/603, no cooling mods.

Speaking of voiding warranties ,I need a volt mod because I bet my card would do more with a bit more voltage ;)
Our cards look just alike ,I bet I could get 280 to 300 mhz out of the gpu if I had some kind of mod ,it will do 255 all day long until I hit a heavy 3d app.I know the memory wont do much more but I can try ,is there any way to up the voltage by software?I know they have a bios flash for it but I want to take it one day at a time.

Try 12 hours of 3D Mark 2001 and then 5 runs of 3D Mark 2000 immediately afterward to check for artifacts.
Anyone know why 2000 shows artifacts and 2001 doesn't?

why would u do that neways? if ur gf2/3 runs fine in the games u play when its oc'd very high, why not just leave it alone? i have mine oc'd tell lockes up in 3dmark2k1.. and it runs fine in ut, rewd faction, deus ex, etc...
Yeah, I don't know about running 3DMark2001 for 12 hours! Geez, that might burn out the card!
But I don't think guys should just run only 3DMark2001 once and if it doesn't hang, think the card is stable. Usually it will crash in a real demanding QuakeIII demo.
And yep, usually you don't see artifacts with 3DMark2001, though on another forum, somebody said you could see where a Radeon 8500 was choking; I think on one of the pixel shader tests.

yea i agree totaly...
i mean, whats the point?
you buy the best video card out, and you oc it as far as possible, then try to burn it out?
i mean, i guess some ppl will say that testing it like that will "burn in" the card, making it oc easier/better.. but i don't believe so.

thats just stupid..
overclocking is one thing, but no offence, that is lame to me.
i may not be the smarter overclocker in this fourm, but i aint stupid either.

You are out of line. If you have a legitimate argument, post it. Would you care to back up you claim that it is stupid, or are you merely content with calling it a stupid idea, saying that it's lame, and then calling me stupid?

naw its cool. all i said is the idea of running a hardcore burn in on a vid card seems pointless to me, unless your running some big game sever and not matter what happeneds you need it online 24/7 or something.. im not trying to call you stupid.. your just making sure your vid card under and means is stable.. i understand that.. but for a regular gamer like me, its pointless.. don't take things i say in different ways.. i know i may speak hard sometimes, but that doesnt always mean that im saying what you think im saying.. cool down.. this is suppose to me fun bro..

I think UT is pretty hard on a card myself ,but I know that if I go far enough to see artifacts ,they never show except on the dragon stage I dunno why ,I also know that I just need better cooling because on a cold boot there is no artifacts even when I go further.

1. what are artifacts?
2. any1 know why 3dmark2001 always closes on my kk266-R?
it rarely runs more than the 2 cars scenes.this is with 2 different agp's (ultra and mx)
i have heard of others with this problem too!

I think maybe you corrupted some files whe it crashed ,run scandisk ,it may fix it ,if it doesnt ,reinstall your programs and see if that helps.

What I mean is anytime you are running any program and it crashes ,it can become corrupt.I have been there way more then once and if it has ever crashed during an app it may have corrupted it ,trust me on this ,it also may have corrupted something in windows or even your video card driver ,you never know.

well, back to orig subject, i've so far tried the setting of 265/585 with a watercooled gpu, havent benched in a while, but it's scoring 88xx consistently, 8899 being my highest thus far. i'm shooting for 9k or better, gonna make a run at it this weekend. It'll run looped 3dmark 2k for hours without artifacting, and 2k1 runs silky smooth. i run the 22.50 dets, have yet to try the 23.xx series drivers. might give them a shot this weekend and see the results.

hey dl aim messanger so we could chat!
and i cant get my gf3 to oc at all now.. i get all sorts of errors.. i just uninstalled the card, and restalled it.. i dont thing it likes the 23.11 very much altho they gave me like 200pt incrase in 3dmark2k1.
so i desided to go back to stock settings on everything. and what do u know? i havent gotten an error since.. so i guess something was up.. i set the bios to default, cpu, and gou all the stock settings..
does anyone know where to get the unreal tournament benchmark thing? since ive been crashing in that game more then neother, id like to see what i can get my card stable at when running ut for at least 4 hrs..
thanks..
