Hi Guys,
Im in Ireland and recently signed up to a cable ISP. I know its predominant in the US but here cable is in the minority. The modem they supply is a Motorola Surfboard SB5101E. I'm trying to distribute the connection via my Belkin F5D7231-4 wireless router. The router was on a different connection before but its been set back to its factory defaults. DHCP Server setting is enabled on both the modem and the router. The modem picks up the MAC addresses of the router,pc and laptop. The router interface says that it detects an internet connection but when I open a webpage I get nothing. I even tried to see if cloning the MAC address of the pc connected via ethernet would help but to no avail.
I've tried every combination of startup with the devices but same result for everything. Is there anyone out there can shed some light on this for me cause its bugging the hell out of me.

make sure that the modem is connected before the router

{wall}--{modem}--{router}---{pc's}

also make sure that the router and modem are not fighting for the
192.168.1.1 address...

hope this helps

Make sure the modem the router is set for "Dynamic IP Address". I switched from DSL to Cable and had to switch from PPoE to Dynamic. Otherwise I wouldn't get anything through my router. Hope it helps.
