Which is better memory for the P5B Duluxe/WiFi running the E6600 with intention to OC maybe 3.4 to 3.6 Ghz?

Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800, 2GB Kit: TWIN2X2048-6400
CAS 5, 5-5-5-12, 1.9V

Or

G.Skill F2-6400CL4D DDR2-800 Kit F2-6400CL4D-2GBPK
CAS 4, 4-4-4-12, 1.9-2.0V

Or maybe someone has better suggestion?

Any DDR2-800 memory will do. Since you have a 9x multi you can just run it at (9 x 400) for 3.6Ghz. However, if you want to drop the multi and run higher FSB pick up some memory with D9GMH ICs. Check out Crucial Ballistix DDR2-667, DDR2-800 or TeamXtreem DDR2-667(www.tankguys.biz).

More info?

I didn't see any on their web site, but did a search and came up with this. A bit spendy...

Crucial Technology Ballistix Tracer BL2KIT12864AL804 2GB Kit DDR2-800 PC2-6400 Memory

Being 2.2v, will that post ok?

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80061-32

Every time I start searching for memory, I get overwelmed. There are too many choices. A few specific model numbers that will work well the P5B-Deluxe and maybe other mobo's if I decide to upgrade the mobo in the future would really help.

D9GMH ICs

I started looking for memory with D9GMH ICs a couple weeks ago, but I don't see where they actually list what ICs are used. Someone posted a question on the G.Skill site asking if a particular stick used D9 and they came back and stated that they don't tell anyone what's inside. So, it's been a bit frustrating.

Will I actually see much performance increase (gaming, vidio etc.) between D9 DIMMS and non?

My sticks are not the Tracer series. I am uncertain if those are D9s. Newegg.com has the Crucial Ballistix I ordered which are D9. However, for that price I would buy the TeamXtreem from tankguys; http://www.tankguys.biz/ddr2-3338-p-1676.html.

Great. I noticed that the Team Extream - TXDD2048M667HC3DC-M 2 Gb Kit DDR2 (2 x 1Gb) 3-3-3-8 667 Mhz sticks have a voltage of 2.0 - 2.2v. Will that run fine right out of the box or will I have to reset v in bios before I can use this memory?

Module Speed PC2-5300 / 667 Mhz
Latency 3-3-3-8
Chips 16
DRAM Type 64 x 8
PCB Type 6 Layer Ultra Low Noise Shielded
Type Non ECC / Un-Buffered
Voltage 2.0-2.2v

Also, will I really notice any difference between this and just a couple sticks of any old DDR2-800 memory? I guess I'm wondering if there is much performance noticed for the extra $90-100.

It should be fine right out of the box but if it isn't it's very easy to correct in the BIOS.

And with you getting an e6600 then yes, any old ddr2-800 would work. However the ram inkfx and I have mentioned is nice and worth it in my opinion. You get what you pay for. :)

I just got that board and I'm using Corsair XMS 1GB 667MHz Memory overclocked to 800MHz 4-4-4-12 2.1v Not bad.. I even tried 2.0v and it was still stable although I only stress tested at 2.1v When I have time I'll see what voltage it really needs for 800MHz.

Your second choice, G.Skill F2-6400CL4D DDR2-800 Kit F2-6400CL4D-2GBPK, is really good RAM for a nice price. While it don't have the famous D9 chips, it will still O/C pretty good. It will work perfectly fine with an E6600. I have a buddy with this same RAM and he loves it.

Ok. Its a toss up of Team Group, the Crucial or maybe this Patriot.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220144

The Patriot has a $50 rebate right now which is a saving of between $50-100 over the other two.

If the Patriot isn't nearly as good and I will SEE better performace out of the Team Group Xtreem, I'll go with that - otherwise $100 is a chunk of change I could through at other things.

What do you guys think of the Patriot?

I'm still a little confused. If you buy 667 memory and overclock to 800, why not just buy the 800 Mhz and be done with it. Is the object to try to get the lowest latency at 800 and to do that you buy low latency 667 and overclock to 800 and still have the low latency? I'm not exactly sure what I'm trying to accomplish.

Also the FSB - is the object to increast this so that the transfer speed between the CPU and Memory is faster?

Sorry, I'm really new to this and feel like I have a lot to learn. I'm not sure If I'm catching on or not yet.

Help me understand which of these two memory sticks are better, AND WHY. Both have same latency, one is 667 the other is 800 Mhz

Once again this is for a P5B-Deluxe, E6600 intent to overclock to 3.4 - 3.6 Ghz

According to the ramlist, both of those sticks use Elpida ic's. It may be possible to get the 667 stuff up to 800 but I would just get the 800 stuff and not worry about overclocking the ram.

I wouldn't say one or the other is better, they are just binned differently. There is also a pretty significant voltage difference between the two.
