View Full Version : How to Overclock a Pentium D 805 without cooling
How do i over clock my Intel Pentium D 805 on a ECS 945P-A mobo with 2.5 gb DDR2 without using any cooling just using the fan. how far could i push it and still be safe.
I cant over clock it through the bios and i am not sure how to do it with the jumpers
Thanks

We already have too many how to stickies, so you might wanna use the search function first.
i have but i am not sure how far it will go with no extra cooling too

Your talking about the stock cooler right?
wich revision of that motherboard do you have.. if its the rev.1 it doesn't have PCI lock so your limited to 10-15% over the FSB you can get it to boot at anyway.

Stock cooling might be fine for the motherboards max without a FSB pad mod on the CPU then. 10-15% max FSB, no PCI lock.
So where do i start to overclock it

In the bios
There should be some ram, fsb, and voltage options if the board is overcloable by bios.
there are no ram or fsb options but ther is a voltage option
If there are voltage options...there must be overclocking options. Look for Frontside Bus speeds. It will be in MHz...and it will be at 133. So look for a 133MHz somewhere and see if it looks right.
I have this CPU and a motherboard w/o a PCI/AGP Lock...so 3.15GHz is what you will be looking at without getting too crazy and running your AGP card out of frequency.
it has 133mhz how far can i put it and still be safe

133 * 1.15 tops safely without lock.
IF i would want to go higher would i also have to up the voltage currently its at 1.29v?
I looked at the computer properties and it shows 2 cpus one at 2.66(original speed) and ther other at 2.99(overclocked) shouldnt both be overlocked?
What programs can i use to test the stability of the overclock?
