jumper settings on the subj mobo ref manual do not acknowledge existence of 1Ghz slot 1 processor wth 100fsb.
can someone pl advise what jumper setting to use for
1) cpu bus freq selection
2) cpu core : bus freq multiple

thanks

:welcome: to the forums!

1) 100mhz
2) doesn't matter - multiplier is locked at 10x

You'll probably want the 1014.3 bios, if you don't already have it: http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/slot1/440bx/p2b-f/1014f003.zip

Bios flashing utility, if you need it: http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/flash/aflash221.zip

Boot disk image, if you need it: http://www.bootdisk.com/

Note that Asus used a few different VRMs on the P2B-Fs, and the earlier ones might have problems with coppermine processors (like the 1ghz/256/100)
- You might have problems if you have HIP6019CB and HIP6004ACB.
- HIP6019BCB, HIP6004BCB, and US3007CW should be OK.

If you get stuck there are workarounds - just let us know. :)

the asus p2b - f boots up but freezes just before desktop

1. thanks for assisting.
2. the mobo boots win98se but hangs when the bios check screen returns
3. does this means there's no need to reconfigure originally requested jumers?
4. i thought possibly the pci bus may be hanging the pci initio lvd160 that hosts atlas10k3. if not this, maybe agp video card?
5. i do not know how to speed confirm pci bus and also agp bus. i just accept the default bios.
6. i would hate to reapply the OS install because there's a privledge soft app that writes some type of platter identifier mark so you can't transfer the app by disk image.
7. any advice would be appreciated.
