Hey guys,
I've been getting quite good at resurrecting old LCD panels with broken voltahe invertors from the garbage. Basically, what i'll do is disassemble the uniit from the plastic outer chassis, either remove the existing ( bad ) invertor from the unit or just unplug the backlight tubes from it... cut the plugs in half and install just regular CCFL kit invertors from the local PC mod shop. When you get it all back together, i run a single molex power line out the back of my pc up to the power unput on the invertor, this way i can turn the backlight on and off with the kits switch
My question is, where can i get these invertors seperately without having to buy the CCFL kits and toss the tubes?

Is that what you are talking about? For that price you can get siome kits and just sell the lights on ebay or something. I know I'd pick up a few tubes for like 2 bucks instead of having to buy a whole other kit just to replace the tbe I broke with my foot :(

You mean like this (http://www.bgmicro.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=9145)? This is the power supply for BG Micro's CCFL lights so I assume it would work.

I like that aluminum, hopefully they use it as a heatsink too...my inverters keep burning up, the cheap ones ya know. Although I really wish I could just find a schematic and build my own inverter. Then I could buy higher quality parts and cooling if need be. Thanks for the links.
