I was thinking about getting this case: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16811182566

I can't tell if there is enough room for the ultra-120, do you guys have any suggestions?

the ultra-120 is about 6.5" and that case is 7", so it might fit. but figure that the height of the motherboard standoffs plus the mount of rise above the processor will probably be more than 0.5" (i'm at work so can't measure my own rig at the moment), so there's a good chance that it will be just a little too tall. most horizontal cases aren't going to fit the ultra-120, but you might want to take a look at silverstone's SG-01 (http://www.silverstonetek.com/products-sg01Evolution.htm).

alternatively, you could look for a slightly shorter heatsink (if you don't already have the ultra-120). the scythe ninja is 15 cm as opposed to the ultra-120's 16.5 cm and its performance is comparable.

I don't think it will fit because of that piece that goes across the case right over the motherboard.

The Ultra-120 is 160.5mm tall while the case is 177.8mm tall. You have to subtract the thickness of the case bottom and top, the height of the motherboard standoffs, the height of the motherboard and cpu socket, and the height of the cpu. Then with that piece going across eating up more space I would say there is no way. However, if that piece going across the case is removable I think it might be possible.

the top piece is removable, i'll probably buy it and if doesn't fit use it as a file server

I highly doubt it would fit. if you are planning to use a 120mm fan heatsink, your best choice would be a SI-128 that's low enough to fit in most htpc case.
