Do you need to re apply teflon tape every time?

Everytime you take the barb out do you need to re apply the teflon tape? Or will the existing stuff be all good to go for a 2nd round?

I wouldn't be lazy or try and cut corners. I'd reapply it just to be safe.

depends. are you using barbs with orings? if so you dont even need the tape. but if I were using it i sure wouldnt skimp on it. new tape for every removal for sure.

Yes use new tape. But pick all the old stuff out first and you'll get a realy nice seal with no worries.

How many times you you wrap the thred with the teflon I use about 3 layers is this correct or should I use more?

Anywhere from 3-6 is good.

Teflon tape really works best for metal to metal connections. Otherwise, I recommend RTV silicone sealant instead as it works better with plastics.

YES! And be sure to remove the old Teflon completely before applying the new.
