I wanna build build a system thats decent enough to play games on like RTCW and Quake III and stuff like that without having to worry about heat, crashes and stuff like that... i was thinking about going with a Duron system that i have but i dunno it gets hot with stock cooling and i don't want it to be a noisy system either... so i was thinking maybe a PIII or sumthing but didn't know about cost..

Hey man get the new celeron/tualatin 1.2ghz mine ran at 43c and about 47c full load and it was quiet if heat is concerned, and if your not worried about heat and pure speed then get the athlon xp. The celeron/tualatin is only 106$ atgooglegear (http://www.googlegear.com) and get the asus tusl2-c to I have them both and they are great.

i have an pIV and fast memory and i love it. it is fast and makes litlle heat 30°. but i must say it is rather expensive but then you have a stable system and it can be oc nice too.

what's the budget? if you want stability and low temp, then Intel is the way to go. tell us how much you wish to spend, so we can give u more suggestion.

a good combo...im talking blazing fast, is an Abit ST6 and a Celeron1.2....this will be more than enough and itll cost you 190$ total.....also youll be able to oc this thing to at least 1400....most people have 1500+......
