my GF just brought a SONY FXA Athlon4 1G laptop. (SONY? i know. but it certainly "looks" good for gals, u know....) and she agree to let me run SETI at the background on it. yeah!! just finished the first WUs, 0.422AR just under 6hrs, so, it's save bet there will be another 4 or so WUs more under my belt and towards the team!!
also, got all the parts for the XP1.33, will tried to put it together today. and start producing WUs.
these 2 machine added together should be able to add another 10 or so WUs a day :D
however, my personal main machine, the T-bird 1.56, just die last night...:( it can't boot into Windows at any given speed....?? when booting, it said "error when reading data in drive C"??? does that means my hard drvie is dead??? i hope not... however, i could get asscess the drive in DOC mode tho.... but the drive does have some fairly loud noise when the computer trying to acess it...... crossing my finger.....:(

Firstly congrats on those extra WU's, wish I could get a couple more crunchers going. Sadly my money has to go on other things, bills mainly:(
Have you tried re-formatting your HD and re-installing Windows. It may be that Windows has become corrupted. I'll keep my fingers crossed on that one.

yeah, the last thing i would like to lost is all my data on D:\. however, i'll try to reformat and reinstall Windows, see if it could fix the problem. oh man.....reinstall every single thing again...what a major PITA.
'cos it happened to a friend of mine before. the hard drive making some loud and unusal noise. can even format the drive at all. it's dead!
btw, i was using IBM 75GXP. my friend's dead drive is Western Digital. any recommandation for drive? IF i need a new one.....hope not......

Personally have never had a problem with any HD, although I have scrambled data by pushing the FSB too high. All the HD's I have ever had are still working including a 260Mb in an Amiga 1200, so I can't really make a recommendation. I hope the format goes well, I Ghost my C: partition these days. Has saved my skin more than a couple of times.

Took the words right out of my mouth! I got all these extra parts in my closet, and I'm try to scrounge up enough money to by a case!
That's cool LandShark! 2 is better than none!:)
Hey, Sony laptops are good machines...I bought one about a month ago and I absolutely love it. Been running SETI on it off and on too.
Us women know what's good! ;)

Sony is a very good brand BUT :D Proprietary hardware is a nightmare for Overclockers :) IF you are crunching with one then thats different ;)

yeah, i like SONY brand too. but just not their desktop tho. love their digi-camera, and thinking of getting the GR series laptop for myself. PIII-M, internet scroll (u know, i got sooooo used to w/ a wheel mouse), 1.3-1.4" thick, 'bout 5lb, mobile Radeon w/ 16MB DDR, etc. however, it's a bit pricey tho.... got the one for my GF from CompUSA w/ a good price. my friend works their as front store manager. and my GF LOVE it sooooo much!!! u know, it's a very good idea w/ u r sitting in the bed and surfing the net ;)
as for my main machine, i've attached to my XP 1.53, it see it in Window, and i can access it too!! already copied all the data from my D:\ into the XP1.53's hard drive. now, seems like it a re-install time?!! since i could access the hard drive, which means it ain't broken. as 13oot2 mentioned, i guess the Window in that drive is corupted(?). so u guy think a re-install Window would fix the problem?? 'cos even tho i've backed up all my data, i still don't wanna do a whole format, and re-install every single software!! it's not just a few!!

Are you worried about repartion, reformat, reinstall (RPRFRI) all your software song?!!!!!
If you do you can't call yourself a tweaker or overclocker. The proce you have to pay from thinkering with your PC is the RPRFRI song every few months. I have lost the count of how many times I have reinstalled windows in my box.....and soon I'll have to do it again when I put in line my new mobo.
