How do you check the FPS in RTCW?

same as quake 3 arena, believe it was /cg_drawfps 1 in the console.

Yeah Q3 is not that bad (don't tell anyone I said that ;) ), but I always preferred the UT multiplayers better, like Capture the flag.
Man I checked my fps and it was around 60, man that is crappy for my system specs. I just installed the new nvidia 23.11 drivers, maybe its those?

No, that is about what I am getting. I average over 100 in q3. I have it capped for performance, I get considerably lower FPS in RtCW than compared to Q3A. I'm sure they will patch the game some more and fps will increase... besides, RtCW looks better then most games available now... could be a side effect of purdy graphics...

Roger that, cool. Yeah I was wondering because when I did a fps test on Q3 a long time ago I was getting around 100. In UT I average around 70, different engine though.
RTCW does have some purdy graphics.

Is there a way to select a refesh rate through the console in CS? I'm not sure if it's my connection(56k), but my refresh rate seems to drop from 85 to about 70 or 75hz when playing:eh?: Very annoying. Thanks:)

yea just type fps_max <the value u want> :D
u may need to disable vertical sync first tho.

fps...? Isn't that the framerate not the refresh rate?

well yes it is frames per second. But the fps can also influence your refresh rate. The more frames that are persent per second the more data each refresh frame has. (its kinda confusing to explain in words, sorry) :D
But i don't think its ur refresh rate thats causing the game to be laggy. More likely its your ping from your 56k can't keepup with the data throughput. :)

That sucks. Wideband isn't available out here in the boonies. I tried "fps_max 3333" (less the quotes) in the console, hit enter and nothing happened. MY curser just jumped down waiting for another command:eh?: Should I enter something else??

enable the net_graph option to see how many fps u have will your playing and it'll tell ya if u were successful in adjusting.
Just type net_graph 3 in the console. and net_graph 0 or 1(i forget) to turn it off. :D

I'm getting between 90 and 100 fps in "office". It must be working. :) (MY vertical sync has never been on)

good good.. u probably can get even higher fps if u disable vertical sync. But it may or may not give significant improvements.

Vsync has been off. I never had it on.
:)
Update: fixed the problem---- "r_displayrefresh 85" 85 being my desired refresh rate. Cannot be any higher than your desktop, may damage the monitor:eek: Here's where I found the help:
