Hi,

is it just me, or is there a lot of mis-information floating around regarding the plus variant of the P5N32-e sli boards. So many sites and reviews are referring to this board being a 680i chipset. Below is just one example:

http://www.hardwarezone.com/news/view.php?cid=4&id=6420]

The board uses the 650i + older 570 southbridge though. Here is a link to the asus website:

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=495&model=1567&modelmenu=2

So, after nearly being caught out and thinking that it is a 680i myself, I now need to ask - is the plus version, with the 650+570 combo, and the solid state caps, a better board than the P5N32-E SLI board with the 680i chipset? Has asus done this for a good reason, or just cost cutting (they call it hybridup technology)?
I am also confused as to how the 650i is pci-e 16x only on one slot, 8x on 2 slots, but the asus plus board using the 650i is 16x on 2 slots, same as the 680i. Has asus given us a board with a mix of the chipsets, solid state caps, and enhanced the features to almost a 680i here, for a very good price? Would I be stupid in thinking (my original thoughts were I wanted a 680i board) that the asus plus board is very good value for money, or am I missing a serious drawback with this board?

Please, can someone reassure me that if I go with the plus version, I will not be disappointed with not going the 680i route.

Thanks a lot

Greg
