ok well i need some help. my 5.1 setup (headphones) work flawlessly in cs... its amazing with eax its insane. but in bf2 the only way i get actuall positional surround sound is by putting the soudn into hardware mode, and by putting the sound into hardware mode i have noticed a degration in sound quality. If i use software mode i get normal 2ch stero but it sounds alot better. is there anyway i can use 5.1 in software mode?

because the sound quality is quite a bit better.

Not in mine. I slect hardware, then creative x-fi in the bf2 options and it sounds great. What do you have for a soundcard?

i have the audigy 2 value.... i was running really old drivers when i tested it though so ima have another go at with the latest drivers (settings; hardware; high quality; eax on)

i dont think the audigy 2 value can handle hardware high... try medium

why wouldnt it be able to... its the same exact processing unit that a audigy 2 zs uses if im not mistaken.... AND i have also noticed that when i have eax enabled in CS 1.6 the left front becomes very dominate... every speaker is set to 100% volume and only in cs does the front left become dominate... listeinging to music and bf2 it does not.

What! You are saying you get better sound via Software? in BF2.. You should be able to set your A2 to high.

I set my BF2 to Ultra-High and EAX and it works like a champ in 5.1.

All your settings under Windows Control Panel under Audio has your A2 as the sound card?

i cant set it to ultra high for some reason... by n e chance you have an X-fi? I think it was just the change in the actual sounds that led me to believe it was less quality. N e ways bf2 is running fine...

Now CS 1.6 ... what would cause it to output more volume on that channel in a single application?

ya i really cant figure it out its bothering me cus its a noticible difference just in cs.
