Shrinking a GIF

How do you make an animated GIF without screwing it up? I have CS2 and some other editing software, I know this is probably stupid but, I don't know to do it

Example

Maybe not one as complex but how would I make it smaller without losing the animation?

i use macromedia fireworks, but there are other ways im sure

I was told i can do it with Imageready, but it tries to save it as a .psd file (photoshop file) and I want to save it as a gif

I don't know how to do what you want with the GIF, but I just had to say that the one you have there is pretty cool! Do those missiles say "OMG" on them? They go by so fast, I can't get a clear read.
