Understanding Ram

Hey guys, i'm making a computer and I don't understand ram exactly. What exactly is latency and timing? higher the better? 5-5-5-15 best? heres what I have down so far for my computer.


Processor: e6600
Mobo: ASUS P5W
Video card: Geforce 7900GT

alright thanks. Most of the OCZ ram I see is 5-5-5-15, is it because they can OC it and lower it alot?

No, you'll want to get something more like 4-4-4-10 timings if you want to O/C it a lot.
