View Full Version : $950 to spend
I'm looking to build an Intel C2D system in hopes of clocking in the range of 3.2 - 3.6 GHz. The cost needs to include:
CPU
Mother board
2GB RAM
Heatsink
Video board.
I'm leaning towards a P5B deluxe, but that is not absolute. The video would be used for some gaming, but mostly photo work. Just not sure if I should go with the E6600 and cheaper RAM or E6400 and better RAM. Any input is appreciated!
Are you going to do a lot of serious benching? If not, get the E6600 and 2GB of DDR2-800 memory. The P5B-D is a great board if you are going to need 500FSB+. If the Intel Badaxe2 fits into your budget pick it up, for $175 at microcenter. Do you have any idea what PSU you are going to use?

I'm getting either the Thermaltake 700 or the OCZ 700.
As far as ram - will any DDR2 800 be a good fit? I'm looking at thgose in the $200 range like:
