ok now i was looking at some benchmarks on some hsf. With some setups they have the hsf blowing inward while at other times they have em blowing outward. Now how do u know which is the best for your setup? I know its based on the design of your hs. But what other factors determine which direction?

Only thing I can say is if you have a program to check your temps. try it both ways and see which gives you the lowest temps.

But aren't different hs designed to have the hsf mounted in a specific way?

Yes. Alphas are typically designed to have the fan sucking air through them (I don't know about the latest one, though)...the easiest way to tell if it's designed for it is to see if there's a shroud of some type cover the top portion of the heatsink. Those that do typically are designed to have the fan sucking air through them. This is there so that the air covers the entire surface of the heatsink as if you don't have a shroud there and you have the fan sucking it's only getting air on the upper portion of the fins.
