Well i showed up today in my 4th period computer graphic arts class (im a high school senior and am in the second year of the class so i have gotten a nice mac laptop to use all year) any ways i showed up today and guess what i sit down to.... a macbook pro 17inch core 2 duo 2.33ghz and 2gb of ram... my god its SOOOO FAST they got 2 of them. i really wish they used bootcamp to run windows xp cus i would be benching them all period. i really didnt think the mobile chip would be as fast as the desktop c2d but DAMN... this makes me wanna lay down the 3k for one of these lappies. and the damn thing has a 200gb hd... damn

yea they are slightly slow with the 667 fsb vs 1066fsb. they are nice esp since they are 35watts.:drool:

The iMacs here at college use Core Duos, they feel sooo much zippier than the Dells with Presler/Prescott.

ya but over the old (but not slow) 17inch lappy g4 1.6ghz i ust to use in that class its SOOO much faster... pluss a public school... core 2 duo... damn i must be one lucky son of a bitch to be able to use 1 of only 2 core 2 duo computers in the entire school (and we have ALOT of computers for a campus of 2400 kids unfortunatly only a SINGLE crappy T1 line supplies the whole school it can get quite slow)

g4's ARE slow. no doubt about it. my 867mhz g4 powerbook is slower than my xbox (733mhz p3).

Thats awesome that you are getting brand new mac laptops to use in highschool.

Complaining about a T1 line at high school! Our 'computer lab' in our was some 486s which came in my senior year and mostly older computers from some 386s down to 8086s. And the interweb at the time was er...Prodigy maybe? so Sssssssshhhhhhhhh *hobbles off into the old man corner*

Hah. Our school might have a t1. Were on a freakin cable line. An entire high school, on a cable line. SINGLE cable line. Our internet? Feels like your having sex with a turtle. I get an average download of 3kb/s, on a good way. When its not so starved for bandwidth that you can actualy get a webpage open.

see im taking the second year of the class and i got to use a the g4 1.6ghz lappy instead of the g4 450mhz cubes.... and now to bump up to these things its AMAZING. lol it really sucks comming from my 15mbit fios line and my e6600 with 8800gts to say the 733mhz p3s with 128mb of ram and running windows 98 on a t1 line that you maybe get 50KBps down

...kinda like when I go to my parents house in florida and they have my old p2 400mhz on dialup...while i'm on a xeon 3050 w/ 8mbs cable
