agp 4x vs 2x question

is there any significant difference in FPS between agp 4x and 2x?
i have a mobo which only supports 2x...what if i installed a gf2 ultra on it and compare it to a mobo which supports 4x wud the 4x enabled mobo yield high FPS?

you shouldnt notice a huge difference,if a difference at all i think
i dont think that any video card atm can flood an agp port that
is even running at only 2x

is it in fact the video cards problem or mobos?

I have a MSI Ti200. I run 2X right now, but when I switch to 4X I see the exact same performance in Q3, UT, 3DMark2001. I've yet to see any benefits from 4X. Sometimes 4X inhibits the OCability of my card.

I've had much better results with 2x than 4x. it makes no difference at stock though.

if 4x is so far ahead of current capabilities, why do they have it or 8x coming next year? I know that they want to be able to get to that point but the goal seems a little high if 2x is barely being fully utilized.

Not exactly related but it made me stop and think about work for a second. We've been gettin really hammered lately by SBC to upgrade our companys backbone to Gigabit uplinks as our current dark fiber contract has expired. Yea, that's great, but we're not even using 10% of a 100meg uplink. What the hell would we use the other ~985mb of bandwidth for? Besides, the price difference goes from $5kmo to $17kmo. Gotta love those marketing and sales people. Kinda seems pointless sometimes.....:beer:
