View Full Version : Getting a raptor... Question on pagefile configuration.
I ordered a 150GB raptor to add to the system in my sig. I will be usign it as my windows/game drive and my current drive will be relegated to a pure storage/music/video/torrent drive. Now what I am wondering is what is the best location for the page file. I'm thinking the storage drivem ight actually be a better location as it would be rare for that drive to ever be under a significant load.
I'm not sure, what do you guys think? And btw, I'm using Vista.
Also, is a seperate partition for the page file beneficial at all?

Put the pagefile on the other drive that isn't accessed as much(i.e. not the OS drive)and you'll have two drives and possibly controllers able to simultaneously access files=faster. Putting the pagefile on a separate partition will do nothing for performance and technically hurt it if it's on a inner(slower) partition.
or just dont use a page file ... ;)

Well, the idea of using the seperate partition was to keep the page at the beginging of that drive.
Not using a page file is simply not an option with some of thep rograms I use.
