I just got Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney and it is some kick-ass old skool text-rpg action. Reminds me of a cross between the Zork games, Shadowgate and the Sherlock Holmes games. The sound sucks really bad on the game, the graphics style and writing are overtly Anime, but this game is FUN! There are 2 of them out.

Please add any DS games you've found to be awesome, besides the obvious SMB and Kart and Castlevania games.

A third Phoenix Wright is on the way, too. If you liked Phoenix Wright, you'd pro'lly like Hotel Dusk: Room 215. Same style of game, but more film noir.

Why gee... I've only been saying this everyday since before christmas :)

Elite Beat Agents is incredible. Excellent game... great bonus levels... nice ending. I'm not the type of person to play that kind of game... but once you learn how to play, it really catches you by surprise.

Pocket Monsters [Pokemon] Diamond/Pearl should be out in April I think. I love the idea of it being online, and challenging other trainers.

I loved castlevania dawn of sorrow

mario kart was kinda bleh, then better when I came back to it... still not amazing though (i think i wore out my kart-hunger back on the 64)... visually beautiful though - the colorful game is a very good crowd-pleaser if I want to show off what a ds can do

brain age... i get my 10 minutes in almost every day... sometimes more if i venture into the sudoku section - if you like watching those % completed meters slowly but surely rise up... this is good for you

metroid prime hunters - fps using a stylus... a bit weird... still a novelty concept to me that I haven't gotten used to, but I may get more into it later... visually stunning however

those are my current collection... I'm picking up advance wars ds tomorrow from a buddy used for $11 and a coke (we haggled), I know i'll love that - played it on another's system and was immediately addicted.

for the future - I can't wait to see animal crossing show up somewhere for a used price (I've managed to buy all of my games used for around $10 so far)... and I'm willing to pay retail for that new crazy looking zelda game!

I'm also very interested in homebrew/PDA software/dslinux/browser possibilities that become a reality when you shell out ~$80USD for all the hardware you need to do it without making the ds lite bulgier in any dimension... I suppose I'll hold out on that until either I fall into a real slump regarding things to play, or else the price comes down a bit closer to 30~40 for the same type of hardware.

also on my wish list is the japanese/english dictionary i've heard about... hopefully my japanese father-in-law-of-the-future will be able to get me a copy without a silly markup for importing costs/profit

I just finished the "first" Phoenix Wright and it was great except:

1.I thought the game had 4 cases, instead it as a warmup tutorial case and then a long case with 4 parts.

2. After playing trough the first one and part of the second, I can tell that there were probably a few more Phoenix Wright games in Japan as it keeps referring to stuff that never happened in the "first" and "second" games.

The second one is cool too with that Psyche-lock thing. I'm annoyed at the jerk surgeon though who keeps flipping me the bird.

1. This is untrue. The first four cases were originally Game boy advance games released in Japan that were translated into English and thrown together for their international debut on the DS.

Also there were ZERO references to previous games. The tutorial mission is Phoenix's very first case and all other cases referenced are included on the DS version.

I too thought the game was over after the fourth case, they rolled credits and everything. But then I remembered an all new case was created just for the DS... and that is the fifth case. The only tutorial case is Phoenix Wright's first case.

2. See above. (Though I haven't started part 2 because I haven't finished the fifth case. So I can't speak for that.)

I'll go check that out Rainman, I thought it was over after the Detective Goodman murder case.

edit: Kewl, you're right!!! I had to go back to the "new game" menu to access the others. Sweeeeeet, I feel more like I've got my money's worth now. Thanks for the heads up.

No prob.

Oddly enough I was showing the game to my uncle in the limo for my grandmother's funeral of all places... I showed him I already bought part 2 and was about to open it, but I wanted to show him what the game was like first... So I fired up part one and.... STARS AND GARTERS! I really hadn't finished the thing.

So I'm working on that now.

Yeah, I'm going to shelf part 2 until I'm done with 1 as well.
