I have just built up my new system.
I am having trouble reading cd-rw and cd-r's

The drive will read retail cd's just fine but not anything that I have or anyone else has burned. Doesn't recognize blank media either.
It is a creative 8x cd-rw

I have reinstalled in win98 a few times
Creative site has not helped
except to install some driver that helps some pc's read cdrw's
( didn't fix the problem)
I also reinstalled Nero ( didn't fix it either)

Cd-rw is on secondary IDE as master (only device on the chain)
I have used the original ribbon from my old case ( didn't fix)
as well as an ultra ATA100 ribbon.

what mode should I set the IDE slot to?

any other ideas?

thx...

Same problem here.

Alot of the cds i burnt with nero won't read under win 2000.

Same cds seem to work fine on other computers.

I don't know what the problem is.

USE REAL HIGH QUALITY DISKS, creative drives seem to get picky wif cheap no-name cd's after a while....
