What Clockspeed do you guys use when you reinstall your OS; Maximum stable O/C or Default speed? I have always done it with my Max stable O/C with the BIOS settings I normally use. Just want to know what everyone does & have you guys found a difference in performance in either way. TIA:beer:

it depends on the OS i think, and your system.
there is no problem installing it at default stock frequencies, so if you want any recommendation mine would be this one.
let it just take the time being sure its the most safe way..

its always best to clock down some i dont think you always have to go to default but lowering 25% of your overclock is a better bet. you would not want your heart surgeon wired to the gills before he got into your chest would you.

as far as performance i have never gambled when installing a OS but i have heard srories of people who left there PC's overclocked and had corrupt files installed so they had to reinstall, no one wants windows any buggier then it already is.

I always go back to default unless it's an AMD system. In that case I just lower the bus speed to default and leave the multiplier where ever it was (even if it's lower than default). This is only because I'm too lazy to flip the dip switches on my 8K7A+. The 8KHA+, well, I just don't bother with it...

It should be at default speeds when installing windows.

Its just more safe and with the overclocking it might mess up ..

I don't like doing things twice if not necessary just my 0.02.

Looks like most people prefer to install with the clockspeed closer to default. Do any of you back up with Ghost? The way the replys have been trickling in it would seem that people would prefer to also be on the conservative side when they back up.

If we do all these tests to find out if our computers are stable with the overclock that we have but do not trust it during a reinstall then are we really that stable? I have always reinstalled at my max o/c & have not noticed any difference but now since I'm finally going RAID maybe I have to be on the conservative side in unknown territory.

Nope I don't really like Ghost if I were to just restore everything I would preferring reinstalling everything again, I always like a new fresh Windows once in awhile.

By the way I add: People like to go at default because they just want to install it once and if anything happens because its being overclocked then it would be just a drag to reformat again... and re partition..

GHOST is a great program. If I mess up my system I can replace the whole shibang in less than 2 minutes.
I run my reinstalls @ max clock unless I get major errors, then I gotta start alllllllll over again.
If I'm stable though, I run it "as is":burn:
