View Full Version : 3Dmark06+ 7600GT + Vista= deep freeze?
hey guys,
so i finally finished building my very first computer and everything is working smoothly. however, i tried to run 3Dmark06 yesterday and my computer just freezes in the deep freeze scene (always in the exact same part). i already tried reinstalling 3dmark06 as well as installing all the newest drivers for my video card but the problem still remains. i also tried running 3Dmark05 and everything worked great. at this point, i have no idea what the problem might be but i suspect it is either my video card driver or 3Dmark06 itself.
any ideas will be greatly appreciated...

are you running the card completely stock?? 3dmark06 is pretty stressful... i believe more so then 3dmark05
thanks for reminding me. the card is a stock XFX 7600GT which is over clocked from the factory.

hmm usually factory OC's are pretty minimal so i doubt that is the issue. I am also running Vista too and don't have any freezing issues with 06'. Is your computer up to date with microsoft updates??? Also are you running 32bit or 64bit windows??
it is 32 bit Vista Ultimate edition. i have all the latest updates from both windows and nvidia. also, al my temps are very normal and all my games are runnig smooth on max settings (bf2, 2142)

Hi blonde,
I'd try changing your driver settings and PCIe frequencies in BIOS. Verify card temperatures during the entire bench using Rivatuner as it does seem to be a heat issue.

can you explain this in more detail for me? i am a complete noob in all of this. i will download rivatuner and check the temps but i am not sure about the BIOS settings and all of that.

Try this. Remove the program and all of the related drivers. Reboot. Then reinstall it.

Thats good. Now run the first 3Dmark test and tell us what it tops out @.
You may have gotten a corrupt download.
not sure how to do that because everytime i run 3dmark, my computer freezes and i have to restart. how can i see the rivatuner while doing the test?
alright, i logged the entire 3dmark06 session and my temps never went above 63c.

Because the screen flashes back to desktop between tests.
thanks man. my video card never went above 63c (around 58 most of the time during 3dmark).
