Anyone have issues with their Wii's wireless range?

I can place my laptop (Internal WiFi) nearly anywhere downstairs in my living room and pick up 2 bars and good connectivity. My Wii however, I have to place on the top of my television set and it only gets 1 bar and shows red in connectivity.

When I initiate a connectivity test, it comes up successful but when I try and update it gives an error about connectivity.

Does anyone else find their Wii range sucks?

Mine is fine, it's a floor under my router. Maybe it's getting some interference or something? Try switching wireless channels on your router.

I've got a pretty darned strong router (Linksys SRX400) but Mine is probably 30 feet and a floor/story away from the router and is fine.

Around 40 feet away, perfect signal. I get 3 bars on my DS at around 35 feet in the same room.

I am in the process of getting a Linksys WRT54GL wireless router set up to try and expand the range. (firmwre upgrade) My router is one floor up and maybe 40ft diagonal distance to the Wii. I have even tried setting the wireless antenna on the router parallel to the floor to see if it made a difference, but then I lose the signal entirely.

Soon as my RMA'd WRT54GL arrives, I am hoping for better results.

I was simply curious if the Wii has inherently weak reception over other wireless devices.

Not to my knowledge. Another thing to look for is any other 2.4ghz devices in your house like cordless phones and microwaves. I replaced all my 2.4ghz phones with 5.8ghz phones and my signal strength does drop a couple of bars when the nuke is running.
