Not really sure where to put it so guess I'll start it out here. Anyway I was wondering exactly how much more power Split Screen takes then Single player and why? As far as I can see it the Unit playing the games is still only projecting the same amount of Pixels, however it is working for two people so it would be required to use more power for the AI and Physics, it also is displaying your main unit which is usually in more detail then other units twice so that could also take a decent amount for power.

Interesting question.

I think it stresses different parts of the system. While the CPU/GPU are taxed more with rendering 2 times the stuff, you can get away with smaller/crappier textures. I think it should be about the same or a little more, this would be a great test.

Remindes me of playing Goldeneye back in the day on the 64. The textures were clearly scaled back in the split screen modes, but if you got enough explosions/fires/tracers on the screen(s) at once it would cause noticable hickups in fps. Something that was never really apparant in the single player mode.

I wonder if they render all of the windows together or if they allocate a set amount of GPU cycles for each 'screen'.

Now that I think about it though, based on what I've noticed with PCs I'd think the additional load on the graphics card wouldn't be much...besides it having to render more player weapon models. The processor is probably what takes the most hit.
