i have settings on a switch on my mobo for 1.6, 1.7 volts, when would it be good to go higher in voltage? im oc'd 240/500@265/550.
thanks

I didnt think you can raise your voltage for any video card unless you do a mod......... and thats only for cards with sdram

my mobo has an on board dip switch for 1.5, 1.6 & 1.7 volts..

Thats for your processor, ive never seen it for an agp slot and i dont think there is

i have seen controls to raise the agp voltage most noticeably in the Leadtek Sis735 board, and the problem is that the board it self is getting more voltage but the ram and gpu are regulated...

update..... does anyone else have any idea's about this?

I reckon same reason as a processor. When the Vidcard is going so fast it needs more power it it can't go anymore.
I suppose it is meant to be used for better AGP bus stability. You can not overclock your display card by motherboard settings. GF3 has its own voltage regulators and needs hardware mod for higher voltages. I'm not sure about your card but the regulator chip (two pieces of them) is Semtech SC1175 normally.
Edit:
You can try to raise AGP voltage if it seems that AGP is holding you back with high FSB (of course actually AGP but aren't they connected).

I agree with karsta the voltage switch is to supply your agp slot with higher voltages but your video card has an onboard voltage regulator so it doesnt affect your gpu or video mem. :burn:
