Adding Calculator to quick lanch bar

Agreed. Click and hold - drag it to the quick launch.
There's another way, explore the start menu all users, browse to the calculator, then create a shortcut of the calculator.
Right click in a non-icon space in the quick launch, and select 'open folder'. Then paste the shortcut into the window.

When you click and drag it from the start menu, use the right mouse button. If you use the left, it will remove it from the start menu.

or make a shortcut to calc.exe and place that on your taskbar
