ECC REG memory

Can ECC REG memory be safely used on boards that use standard
memory?

I have 2GB of ECC REG PC2700 sitting here I'd like to test but have
no server/workstation class boards to test them on.

EEC REG stuff won't work on a standard board unless the board was specifically designed to support it... even then i've only seen a few boards that will actually do this, such as the badaxe2
