View Full Version : +fsb= -rpm???
Get this: I reconfigured my K6-2 from 112mhzX5.0 to 124mhzX4.5, a net loss of 2mhz but a big boost on the FSB. I ran Sandra 2001 to compare past results with the current setup and got: no significant change on the cpu and mmx benches, +20% on the memory but -20% on the hard drive bench. Anyone care to take a guess why.
at 112 you were using a 1/3 pci divider or 37.3mhz to the hard drive controller at 124 you are probably at a 1/4 pci divider or 31.0mhz.

That's a good guess but my manual states clearly that there is no 1/4 divider. It's running at 41.3mhz. The 66 and 75 bus are divide by 2, the 83 bus is divide by 2.5 and above that its all divide by 3.
It now seems that first test result was just a quirk. I ran the benchmark again and got an 8% increase. I ran another test and got an increase there too.
