Ive been waiting for this game since i got my wii! i was hopin for it on monday but i got crap like legand of kage and streets of rage. then nintendo got all trickey and put it out on wensday! well i just downloaded it and played thru the first two levels, and its still just as fun as it was 13 years ago.
so in closing anyone with a wii, go to the virtual store and get DK country NOW!
snootchy bootchies!
It sucks with the GC controller. You're going to need the Classic Controller to play it.
I tried for a bit. The way they mapped the buttons is absolutely retarded.

HEY!!!! That's MY line!!!
Anyway, for some reason I've never been able to get into DKC, but for $5, I may give it a shot. They need to release a wireless version of the classic controller if the GC controller sucks that bad on classic games.
Not on all classic games, just on DKC so far. It's bloody sad, really. The keys are mapped so poorly it really takes away from the experience.
I loved DKC. It's such a good game.

Hell... EVERYTHING on the Wii might as well be wireless (accept for the "legacy" GC controllers of course.) I recently got a new controller for my 360... just so my friend could play. And since it wasn't really even FOR ME I could've gotten some third party knock-off controller from Walmart for 25 bucks... But once you've gone wireless... why go back?
I mean the ONLY wires connected to my 360 are coming out the back. The advantages of this became immediately apparent when my friend, who's place I'm staying at, had a party and we had to move all my things, except the 360, to the guest room. Hell... I was able to turn the damned thing off from there.
That's what I call evolution.

It plays exceptionally well on my PSP. That is on of the best games I have for or ever had for the SNES.
Very good, very nice.

Y'know, I never understood why Nintendo made it so the Classic Controller has to plug into the Wiimote. It's not like Bluetooth connectivity would be hard to build in or anything.
Perhaps we'll see some 3rd party Classic Controllers that don't need to connect to the Wiimote. I know there is already work on a wireless Nunchuk attachment.

Am I the only one that likes that you need to plug in the classic controller? One less set of batteries to have to worry about dying. Is it really that bad to have it plugged in to the the wii mote?
Wireless Nunchuck? Oh no I would drop that everytime I played tenkaichi 2. I guess I would have to get used to having wrist straps on both arms.

No it's not bad... it's just STUPID. Why on earth would you plug a controller... into ANOTHER controller? Particularly when it can all be wireless and be done with. You could always get a set of rechargable batteries (though they will never be as efficient as the Wireless battery pack for the 360... which should be the NEXT step for the Wii.)
It really doesn't make any sense... then again a lot of what nintendo does never makes any sense to me. Not hating! They'll always have the DS Lite. (We won't talk about the original DS...)

I find that my energizer E3s last longer than the 360 packs, Rainman.

ok, it can be wireless. But it dosent need to be. You are not flailing it around while playing mario bros. or bomberman. Its cheaper to produce too.
Why dosent it make sense?
also
The classic controller has a clip type thing on the back so maybe there is something in the works still.

from what i understand, it has something to do with the bluetooth connectivity. something about it can only read so many devices at once. no it wouldnt cost much more to build in blutooth and a battery pack (maybe 15~20 bucks) bringing the cost of a classic controller to 40~45 dollars but i think bluetooth can only read 7 sources at once, that is why the nunchucks are wired as well as the classics.
i personally dont have any problem with the wires, it saves on batteries, and brings the cost of the nunchucks and classics down enough so it isnt a big hit on your wallet to get another. either way, im off topic (even though its MY topic....) the whole point was to let everyone know that dk country is out.
and yah, i have 4 wavebirds, when i got my wii i was all like:i wont ned any stupid classic controllers.... but once i played street fighter2, i was like screw it, im getting some. and thank god i did. i wouldnt want to play super mario world, or dk country with a wavebird.
and also on another note: the new fire emblem game for wii doenst use the wii-mote, it uses the classic controller (and i presume the gamecube remote) i found that kind of weird... but im glad that nintendo isnt being too stickly about making EVERY game have to make full use of the wiimote. i understand that some games just arnt built for it. also smash bros brawl is going to use the gcn/classic controller.... ok....

Yes it does. I like to sit 10-15 feet from my TV without a cord stretched across the room.

well it's pseudo wireless right?...it plugs into a wireless controller that you set on a coffee table or something.
I think you shouldn't need a classic controller, they should just map the VC games properly to either the wiimote or the GCN controller....it's really kind of crazy to have to buy special controllers for 10 year old games which are a little over priced in my opinion anyway, I mean maybe they would have an excuse if they were developing original games on VC but come on I'm suppose to go break out my special $20 controller because I felt like playing my $5 game. They really should have designed the wiimote better for VC because I really don't see the point in dragging out extra controllers to play content which is basically "on a whim" game play. Something is a little off when you can't map a game properly with 2 controller layouts to work with and have to come up with a third.

Well, even though I own one and like Nintendo, the GC controller is definately one of the WORST designs ever.

I got into the GCN really late...bought one off ebay last summer cheap. I thought that the button placement was horrible...but it is probably the most comfortable controller to grip.

The worst part for me is the Z button and the yellow C-stick, the Z-button is hard to get to for those of us with big hands and the C-stick is just flimsy.

the Z I don't find so bad, the C stick was a dumb idea...should have been exactly like the directional stick like every other controller. I would thought it was cool to have the Z int the middle somewhere like on the old N64 and we'd have to use our middle fingers again. memories.....back to Wii I think the 1 and 2 buttons are too far away....the should have ditched that low low fidelity speaker and moved them up some I practically have to inch worm the controller backwards in my hand to hit 2 comfortably
close to topic: we are seeing VC games we were hoping for around xmas time sooner than I think we thought we'd see. Now get online game play rolling!!!
I always thought that the GC controller was one of the finest I have ever held. It's sturdy but not heavy. Large enough to be comfortable, but small enough to not be cumbersome. The buttons were positioned so anything I wanted was a quick roll of the thumb away.
The only niggles I have with the controller are the Z-button (could they put that in a more awkward place?) and the C-stick (Kinda useless). Beyond that, it was a very fine controller I thought.

What cord are you talking about? Im thinking of the one from the classic controler to the wii mote.

Is that where it attaches? Where the nunchuck does? If that's the case then I have no complaints at all because I thought it attached to the console itself.
