I'm thinking about getting a koolance liquid-coolid case.
If I do, I'm gonna wait for the full tower though.
I have never actually seen one in-person, but I have seen reviews. I would be cooling 3 hard drives, a videocard, a cpu, and the motherboard all with water (using the accessories they sell). I was just wondering what others think about koolance products.
Also, i heard they are going to sell a clear side panel for about $10, which is great because I want to put colored dye that respnds to black lights. Is there any problems with adding dy to the coolant? (I know it voids the warranty for the case, but it looks really cool!)
see http://www.overclockwatercool.com/dye_lite.html

in case u haven't heard of koolance see www.koolance.com

i'm also going to use the same hardware i have listed below, anyone see any problems i might have?

I have the Koolance and am very happy with it! One thing about your setup, though...Do you REALLY need to cool those hard drives? It seems to me that 3 of those would clog up the water flow a bit and definately heat up the water.

Steer clear of buying anything from www.overclock-watercool!!!! Check out ANY other vendor on Koolance's site (though to be safe check www.resellerratings.com) other than his. He has a terrible record (took him 2 1/2 months to send me mine...and some never recieved anything at all).

I'm waiting for the clear case cover to arrive as well. I'm not sure if I'm going to use a bioluminet dye with blacklite or just a few neons. There was a sweet mod I found a while back that allows you to make the neons sensitive to different types of noise.

Anyway, I'd highly suggest you limit your blocks to only the video/mobo/cpu unless you really need to cool those hard drives...

EDIT: If you have any questions at all feel free to ask away! Take a look at my signature if aren't convinced Koolance is a competitor with home-grown watercooling. :D

I don't know why you would want to watercool your hard drives but they would not warm up your water in any noticable way. just stick a fan accross them and they will be nice and cool.

Depends on the drive. A few of the 10K RPM ones get VERY toasty to the touch. Mine doesn't really get above ambient most of the time, unless defragging.

As far as heat of the drive affecting performance? I've never heard of any tests proving that cooling hard drives helps or hurts. The only reason I can think of is that it may increase the lifespan of your components....

I have had mine for a week too. And I love this case. This is one of the most well made products I have bought in a while. And the key is IT WORKS GREAT!

My temps are full load is 29 C!(I do have a few powerful fans in the case directing airflow) But They are still very quiet compared to my air cooling days.

I've had hard drives get so hot they malfunctioned before (my 15krpm does for instance), but really a fan blowing on them more than suffices, we're talking 10W off a large chunk of metal not 100W off a 11mm square piece of silicon after all.

I'm new here and bought the Koolance after reading information from several sources.

I love it and its so much quieter than my Alpha 8045.

I have an Enermax adjustable fan on the back and the Plexiglass side. I was thinking about having a 80mm hole cut into the plexi so I could add another fan for circulation.

With Prime95 it didn't go over 30C.

Where did you mount those fans? I think there's only a provision for one fan in the back panel.

What about the noise generated by those fans?

i watercool my SCSI HDD with my Koolance case

the great thing about it is that its jsut enough to keep the temp of the HDD down, but it doesn't heat up the water

in fact, its the last place it hits before the water goes to the reservoir

if i were running some IDE 5400, i probably wouldn't watercool them, but my SCSI 10k can get hot

fans are great for cooling hardrives,

but the problem is disapating the heat

i cool my HDD not only to prolong the life but to cut down on heat in the case

you will need some type of good exhaust, as fans on hte HDD cool the HDD but the temps in the case will rise without proper ventilation and fans

but it can be done

Well I mounted a YS tech 47 CFM exhaust in the back. I also just used one of the those Drive bay coolers blowing in. Velcroed a 80mm fan infront of the Reservoir. That it!!! That might have been not enough with air cooling for Circulation but with Water cooling , its PLENTY!
