Been a while since I posted in OCF.
I'm Contemplating an LCD Purchase.
My video card is a RX9600 by MSI (ATI Radeon 9600PRO).
It offers resolutions of:
640 x 480 120Hz
800 x 600 120Hz
1024 x 768 120Hz
1152 x 864 120Hz
1280 x 1024 120Hz
1600 x 1200 85Hz
1920 x 1080 75Hz
1920 x 1200 75Hz
1920 x 1440 75Hz
2048 x 1536 65Hz

What would I expect if i purchase a wide screen monitor version?
Looking at ViewSonic VA 1930. Flat-panel LCD, 5-millisecond response, 19" SXGA display, 1440 x 900 resolution, 700:1 contrast ratio.

Frames per second ? gaming ? hmm... you may probably want to upgrade the video card for aming everythign else would be fine :) like movies and etc will run good.

Whatever monitor you buy should come with a driver disk. This will allow your video card to change to native or widescreen resolutions. The 9600 should power any monitor just fine, but is a tad old for gaming.

Will check on the software. Gaming is a non-issue. Was worried it might be a waste of $ going for the widescreen vs a normal 19".

Even if you don't game, widescreen is definitely the way to go. The 9600 will be fine, even with Vista. Monitor drivers should take care of any resolutions you need for the monitor.
