Alright, I can't stand my low speeds, time to OC the hell out of my Athlon, but wait I can't stand the heat either. Time to watercool.

Problem: I'm broke.
Solution: Make my own.

Easy enough. I've got a fair amount of maching skill and plenty of access to copper stock. My question is what is the best design for a waterblock? I've seen people who recommend a spiral setup (which recuires milling something I am capable of doing) some who advocate a cross drilled, and I had my own idea I have not seen discussed, a parabolic channel being sure to run part of the channel directly over the core.

Anyone tried all three? Any definitive answer, or are all three equal?

Also on the parabolic, what is suggested? Mill all the way through to the edge of the block and have nipples on the side, or mill only within the block and mount nipples on the top?

Good to see you here ;)

I think the spiral would be the better of the three. Gives the water a longer time to pick up heat, so make sure your heat transfer is good and that you have plenty of flow at a decent rate.

As for the placement of the nipples, it really depends on the inside of your comp. You have to make sure that the nipples don't hit or obstruct anything. I think putting elbow nipples on top of the block usually work well since you can point them in any desired direction.

spiral at the moment is best, have the water going in the middle and slowly going out
