I just had a major upgrade dumped into my lap by my Father as an early christmas gift. Nice hardware, but not ideal in my mind for overclocking. Here is the setup -
p4 1.8 ghz socket 423 cpu
ecs p4ita mobo
256 mb rambus 800mhz ram (with another 256 that is soon to arrive)
and a gainward gf3 TI200
Anyone up to making some suggestions as to how I OC my rig with this new hardware? The ECS mobo doesn't allow for changing core voltage I don't believe, so that limits the OCing I can do. I dunno ... Any help? Thanks :)

I thought 1.8gig were Socket 478..
You start by getting Motherboard Monitor and seeing what your current temperatures are, the CPU temperature shouldn't be exceeding 45-50 degrees full load.
And in the bios you would up the FSB slowly..
Until you get to a max temperature or some where.
Although.. you should get the lastest bios update see what it can do.
Be sure to have at least an exhaust fan in the upper (usually rear) portion of the case.

Unrelated to the CPU, but you have a very capable video card... for gaming, try pushing the limits of it's core and memory speeds.

Have a look here (http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/p4mod/)
If you decide to do that I suggest you use the Pinhole method **Note: this article was written for Socket 370** (http://www.overclockers.com/tips630/index03.asp).

i have my p4 1.4 1.5 running at 122 fsb without any problem with a simple retail cooler.
i suggest you try this because i have oc 4 pc already and i havent got any problem at 122 fsb. you can hit even higher = 125fsb or even 130 fsb if you have good hd mem video. at my pc it stops at 122 because the videochip gets too hot and runs too fast (i think)
try it out i would say...
my temps are max 34° at fulload. i would try to stay below the 40° but if it gets too hot dont worry. you can't damage anything because if it gets too hot the system reduces the fsb automaticly till it temp are low enough for the system..
