Been playing a little bit of Wolfenstein online, and my brother keeps yelling at me saying it will use up all our downloads, ( we are on a 300mb a month plan ).

i tell him "thats bulls*it, it won't make any difference" however i have nothing to support that claim and i amm starting to doubt myself... can someone just tell me what sought of effect it has??

i hope you can understand my question, i can nearly understand it myself ;)

cheers

300mb's WOW. I download probobly 4 or 5 gigs a month! That plan would'nt work for me! As far as using up the MB's. maybe try not to download to many new maps. that may help.

300mb, that sucks... I too download about 1gb per month, why are they imposing such a limit? Even if its a plan, how much are you paying, if you dont mind me asking?

I'd chew up 300MB/mo in about 2 hours. That really sucks.

As for your question, I don't think that playing Wolf online would really suck that much up. If it transmitted THAT much data, nobody w/ a dialup connection could play it online.

What would be a reasonable amount of data downloaded in a 1 hour gaming period? Been a long time since I had dialup, but I'm pretty sure you could download a few megabytes in an hour of gaming.

But, for the sake of this post, let's just say, for example, 1hr = 2mb.

That leaves him with 150 hours of gaming, ONLY. Taking a month with 30 days in it, that gives him 5 hours a day of gaming.

Now again, I really don't know for sure, but 2mb an hour sounds low to me. I'd be interested to see what the figure really is...how many mb in a solid hour of gaming?

I'd say it would be fairly easy for an average gamer to blow 300mb in a month, taking into consideration how much time per month played, and other downloads.

You can download a megabyte of data browsing the web before you know it.

Usually online gaming doesn't register on these types of plans. Most times ISP's only monitor TCP protocol bandwidth and not UDP which is what 99% of the games out there use for online play.

Double check though. Just to be safe.

That really must suck. I can't imagine being limited like that. How much are you paying a month for that?
