Well folks, OOPS I did it again:)

Well I got sick of how my HS was touching the IHS so I went and removed the IHS again only this time I made sure I had good contatct with the CPU before I fired it up by use of a good shim that is not going to come off of the chip. I made it with layered clear tape until it was perfect and is actually stuck right to the cpu. Works very well and I noticed lower temps anyway as also maybe higher stability of about 30MHz or so. Time will tell how good it is going to be but so far it seems to work very good. Am I going to advise you to take it off? NO. Did I nick or scratch my CPU? NO!:D I guess it takes a special talent to get em' off or something. No slicing or dicing involved:D Sorry folks I let you all down. I just could not get the IHS and the HS to align right so off it came.

ol' man, you need to face the facts; you just can't stand to have a metal cup in between your cpu slug and the hsf.:D :beer:

On a little different note; I ordered the Gigabyte GA-60XET board last night & got Fluid from the [H]Forums to send me that oc'ing bios and was wondering about which P3 Tualie to get for it. Will the 512k server procs work in a non-server board? There is only about a 10-20 dollar difference between the 256k P3 Tualie and the 512k versions. And what performance increase do you think that the P3 Tualie has over the Celeratins besides mem bandwidth due to 133 fsb vs 100 fsb at stock speed? I'm asking this because I know that you have run both cpu's.

Where are you shopping? I see a more than $50 difference between the 1.13/256k & 1.33/512k. I need two of em asap, cheapest on pricewatch for 512k is $$225 can they be gotten cheaper?

Check out Jazz Technology, they have the 256k P3 1.2 for $255 and the 512k P3 1.26 for $278. I believe that I'll order 1 right now.

EDIT: It cost $288 w/shipping for the 512k P3 1.26 Tualie.

I think you have got a good combo in the works there man. You should be smokin. I am wondering with that turbo pLL MOBO what the AGP/PCI settings will be at if say you can get the tooly to do 166+FSB. I was thinking of ordering the same mobo for my .13u tualatin when I get done fixing it:).

Alas I will then retire the celery @ 1.5GHz ~ 1.75v for long term stability to my little bro for christmas.

My old .13u PIII 1.2GHz/256k cache used to do 1500MHz on 1.6v easily. i figure with at most 1.7v I should be able to do 1700MHz with a FSB of 177MHz. Hopefully that turbo pLL MOBO will allow me to run my PCI at least close to 31~37MHz then.

Is there anything computer involved we won't make a nickname or abbreviation for? Here in Canada, I can only get a PIII 1Ghz for $300 (thereabouts, depends on what the price is for the day), but I can get a P4 1.5 for about $250.

Hey muddoctor could you tell me waht the specs on that bios are. Like the name or whatever? I am checking gigabytes site to see what they got there. They have some bioses that say they support some clock generator:D That sounds like turbo pLL to me man:)

I got it from the [H] forums from this thread (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?threadid=277588) . Flu!d sent me the bios today, but I'm going to work for 2 weeks at a remote location here later tonight. You can PM Flu!d at the [H] or if you can wait, I can send it to you. It is the f9c bios, which Gigabyte doesn't have it up on their site any more, like stated in that thread. It looks like someone let something out that he wasn't supposed to post or something. Maybe Intel pressured them to remove it because a 1.6 Tualatin would probably scare the hell out of a 2 gig Willie. :D Who knows, but I have that bios at least.:D
