View Full Version : How do I find who/what is connected to my router?
I have a Linksys WRT45G router. I have just been in touch with Linksys and they tell me that the router is only able to give a list on PC's use dynamic IP's but I'm using static IP's. What I want to know is there a command tool or small program I can use to get a list of all (static and dynamic) PC's connecting to my router?
Login to the router, go to Status, and click on Device List. It shows static and dynamic for me. I'm using HyperWRT firmware on a v3, however, so I don't know what the standard firmware gives you.

I found a program called NetworkView that will scan a network to see what is all active. It will even tell what ports are open and active.
I have Linksys WRT45G V5.1 with Firmware v1.02.0 on it. HyperWRT firmware wouldn't work on mine would it, I don't want to mess too much with the firmware as I know very little about firmares in general and I don't want to do something I can reverse.
I got onto Linksys with the online chat and someone there said my router will only list PC's with dynamic IP's.
Do you have a link for NetworkView?

Do what Jon said.
Bchur83 comment/reccomendation won't help in this situation.
My router ONLY sees dynamic IP's, I want to see all.

you probably want a portscanner like nmap and a packet sniffer, you don't really need a packet sniffer but a portscanner may not locate somebody if they are dropping all packets. Packet sniffer can help you find somebody over time if they are sending packets, but networks can be listened to without being detectable in some cases. Technically it should be pretty easy to figure out if people are on the network, under normal circumstances.
