Running DDR PC2100 AT 200MHZ INSTEAD OF 266MHZ

I have an AMD THUNDERBIRD 1000MHZ CPU, and I plan to either get the EPoX 8kha+ motherboard or a Shuttle Ak31A, both use DDR memory modules, either PC2100(266mhz) or PC1600(200mhz)..I would like to use my Thunderbird 1gig processor in the new motherboard to make sure it works and also to try overclocking it alittle..It is an (AJFA0043MPM)..AMD told me that it is a 200 mhz FSB and to use PC1600 DDR OR PC100 OR PC133 all running at the 200mhz FSB.. I want to know if I would be able to still build the system I mentioned above and run PC2100 at 200mhz FSB and still be able to run the 1gig Thunderbird that I have at the 200mhz speed??If I overclock it I would then be able to use the PC2100 DDR its 266mhz speed, right?? Or can this model of thunderbird only run at 200mhzFSB even if overclocked??Please help.. I plan to trade up to a Thunderbird that can run at 266mhz, but for now I am just trying to use what I have so I can afford the new motherboard and DDR..

Get PC2100.

It's backwards compatible with a 200MHz bus. You can even actually run your memory at 266MHz even if your processor is at 200 by using the DIMMCLK options in the BIOS.

You can unlock the chip or if its already unlocked you can run the processor at 133 mhz. you just set the multiplier lower and up the frontside bus.

Worked for my t bird 950 thats rated at 100 mhz frontside bus.

It should be able to run higher.

Unlocked my TB 1000 (200) and it is now happily running at a 144 FSB (288), but I had to lower the multiplier from 10x to 8x.

hey, u got the 7dxr right? can u run 11x? my board wont do nething over 10.5.. im not sure it could be my ddr holding me back.. but it just wont boot up stable on 11x~12x

My CPU won't even boot at anything over a 10.5, no matter how low I go on the FSB. Wonder if anyone else has a similar problem, sounds like a case for a new Thread.

yea, the 7dxr is awesome, but it may have a flaw :eh?:
