I am interested in buying an Athlon 266FSB 1gig chip. My friend told me to check the codes on the chip before I buy because there are certain codes I want that will allow me to overclock the chip really really well. If anyone could give me a breakdown of what codes are the best for the chip I would appreactiate it greatly. Also I plan on getting the ASUS board with the VIAŽ KT266A chipset. Is that a wise decision. Thanks for th advice guys! :)

Welcome to the forum justink101

I myself have an 1 Ghz (266) AXIA-K which is reportedly a good overclocker however I would suggest having a look in the CPU database on the front of overclockers.com which will give you a greater overall view of what core codes to look out for.

since ur new to overclocking, u could get a 1.2ghz chip so that the L1 bridges are unlocked and u dont have to worry about unlocking them.Good Luck
