OK you pros out there. Have acquired a slot A 750 Athlon, an FIC SD11 board and a thermaltake fan. I had bought a Northwind ver 3.0 goldfinger last year. What sequence would you use to assemble this mess. Most importantly how would you get to the bus on the processor to install the goldginger. burn or cut into it or remove it. All expertise gratefully acknowledged...:) or should I just run the thing at it's normal speed and miss the excitement??

in order to install the GFD, you have to remove the plastic casing, with maybe a flat-head screwdriver

i wouldn't miss out on the fun for anything. i got my 750 running at 1000 perfectly stable. 100x10, but was best performance at 9x110 or 990. okay. so stick a broad flathead screwdriver between the heatplate and the plastic case (be carefull not to hit the pcb, you can see how much clearance you have by looking in the bottom) start and one corner, turn the screwdriver 90 degrees and hear the case pop off. repeat procedure at each corner then if you wanna take the retainer springs off you can check to see what your core is rated at. if you're lucky it's a 900, a lot of 750's seem to be. (be very very carfull not to let the heatplate rock while removing the retaining clips or you'll chip the core and that's end of game, my mistake:mad: good luck and have fun
