I hope he's not right. I was going to get a 20GB this summer/fall for the BluRay player. If this is true then I may just get a standalone BluRay player if I can find one cheaper than the $600 plus $80 2yr warranty +tax.

The BDP-S300 will be available this summer for a suggested retail price of $600. The device will be able to play Blu-ray movies with a resolution of up to 1080p (1920x1080 progressive), currently the highest resolution provided by HD discs. In contrast to the $1000 BDP-S1, which went on sale just days before Christmas 2006, the S300 will also be able to play regular CDs.

Sony did not provide images of the device, but, according to the Seattle Post Intelligencer, the case will be smaller than that of the S1 and more in line with current DVD players. The least expensive option to play Blu-ray movies is currently the 20 GB PS3 game console, which is priced at $500 - but does not include a scaler to upscale the resolution of DVD movies and does not integrate an IR port and therefore does not support a common remote control. Users will have to use the PS3 controller instead - or an optional PS3 remote control that is currently offered by Sony.

Sony has said that the 20GB is not discontinued, however stores have not been ordering it so it possibly will discontinued in the future.

Its part of the Sony conspiracy to make you buy the model that they lose less money on. I was lucky to find my 20Gb in January and it still had Talladega Nights.

/\One of the funniest movies ever. The first 500k PS3s in NA had a free Blu-Ray movie. Some were found randomly in later months thanks to ebay returns.

Hmm... I'll have to rent it.

Honestly I thought it sucked, but I'm biased because I can't stand Will Farrell. My brother and cousin who are big NASCAR fans (living near Bristol Motor Speedway) both were bored with it too. The 360 HD-DVD drive comes with Peter Jackson's King Kong, another movie I did not like.

King Kong was a let-down... I'll give you that. But Peter Jackson always WAS sort of a f***-up.

If you ask me he just got damned lucky with LOTR. He had an excellent cast and all those damned Renaissance fair freaks to work with. Unfortunately there are far more renaissance fair freaks (I dated one... briefly) than there are King Kong freaks (I mean seriously, there's sword welders, corset makers, basket weavers... not to mention the same Tolkein crowds you'd find at a Sci-Fi convention) so he had nobody to help him pull off King Kong.

And what the hell does a New Zealand boy know about New York anyway? That would be like having that loser who did Dancer in the Dark direct an Untouchables movie set in Chicago.

Jackson was all wrong. He hired a bunch of california kids to portray 30's era New Yorkers.

But I digress...

Well it's kind of a hit or miss movie, most people I have talked to really like it, but if they don't they seem to hate it. I have seen a few people who hated it the first time though and when re watching it liked it a bit more.
(I love how we stay on topic haha)

I have to admit we're probably all poster-kids for ADD/ADHD.
