After six or seven MADDEN FANS talked me into returning Madden 07 (which I got, on sale, for 37.99), I decided to exchange it for Crackdown and pick up ESPN 2K5 for the Xbox (1.99 used). All was well and good til I got it home, threw it in the 360, and discovered... to my surprise... that it was not backward compatible.
I had never really thought about it before... The only other xbox game I had tried was Ninja Gaiden... one of the FIRST games to be compatible with the 360.
The gamestop near my friend's house also had Marvel vs. Capcom 2... doe rhw alarming price of $59.99. Understandable... actually... seeing as its become somewhat rare. Even still... I'm probably the only person in this section of Chicago who would pay that much for it. (I love the game to death and I've been extremely distraught ever since my Dreamcast version got wrecked by my dreamcast.)
Sadly... THAT wasn't on the Xbox Live compatibility list either. Nor was NHL 2K6 which I picked up on sale from Best Buy for like 3 bucks. Nor were any of the other 1.99 games at Gamestop. Street Fighter Anniversary Edition? Don't think that was on there either...
Then I took another look at that list and... after seeing the used Xbox section at Gamestop... realized how TINY it really was... There aren't even a half dozen titles per letter... I certainly don't believe the 360 has the 1000 titles that the PS3 is saying they have.
Sort of a travesty actually...
And I have yet to see any hard numbers for how many Gamecube games the Wii is actually compatible with...
I can honestly say I ran the gamut with the PS2, and I never came across a single PS1 game that it wasn't compatible with. So I guess I didn't even consider that any of these modern... and much more powerful systems would have problems running last generation games.
Just my thoughts.
(They also had that Zelda collection that used to come with the Cube (for 44.99 the ********.) wonder if THAT would work on the Wii...)
