Everytime I try to play Counter-Strike, I get an "name overflowed" error and get kicked off all the servers.
I've just installed the latest driver: 4.13.7191
Any suggestions?
specs are below: Epox board
I never had any problems with my v5 5500.
Thanks in advance

OK..I updated driver and installed the ati patch... I'm not getting kicked anymore :) Thanks guys !
I do have another problem! When I max out my resolution in CS, I can see my desktop on the top and bottom portion of the screen while playing. The highest I can play CS is at 1024*768 without noticing this problem. Also, I have my desktop set at 1280*1024 and I'm not running duel monitors.
Any more suggestions?
Thanks again

I was getting same overflow error ,
When I applied that flow overload patch my game is now really screwy.
I cant seem to be able to use the whole screen in OPENgl, as I see about 25% of the CS screen.
IN Direct3D I can view the whole screen.
Ive tried reinstalling the 8500 drivers made sure the resolution is 1024x768 in the CS console, I run desktop at same resolution @85mhz
SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME

640*480?
You sure you are using OpenGL?
And get the latest drivers from http://www.rage3d.com.
I can run 1024 just fine, but any higher and I see my desktop.
Someone Help !!!

Positive,
This is the craziest thing Ive ever encountered, Ive even disabled all visual candy like smoothvision, Antaliasing etc etc
It worked for one game after i disabled everything, thenI left game restarted cs and back to same problem....Got latest drivers as well.

Has anyone tried the OMEGA drivers as I will try anything to find a solution before this 8500 finds its way to Ebay or the F/S F/T section

Have you tried increasing your desktop resolution?
Mine is set at 1280*1024 and can play CS at 1024.
I dunno if it will work...but it's worth a shot. Maybe try installing drivers again, too.

give the latest omega drivers a shot, what are you gonna lose, they arent gonna mess up your system actually imho they are more stable than any ati has given and improve bench scores and 2d/3d performance. i run cs with no problems on my 8500 and i'm only using a craaapppy ole celly 533 that i can't seem to oc. anyway. try the drivers you won't regret it.

**Update**
Problem is now gone and works fine in openGl with win 98 and ME
XP must have been the culprit

Can you make out your resolution on CS without seeing desktop?
I still can't.

I was able to solve all my problems with a fresh Format
I tried it all out on a spare hard drive and just finishing up with my main HDD now.
Rule of thumb is you gotta start fresh.....
ATI still needs to get thier drivers up to snuff for XP users.....but im not holdin my breath waiting for ATI to realize that you cant just have a great card.....the drivers have to be great as well.
Nvidea gets an A+ for thier driver developtment, ATI gets a D-
:p

mHz = Milli Hertz = 1/1000th of a hertz
Must take ages for the screen to refresh :D :D :D
