View Full Version : SB Live! 5.1 in today's cases?
what up guys? i was wondering if there's a way to hook up my old (but good) SB Live! 5.1 to the front panel headphone/mic jacks?
i see pins on the card for spdif. i don't want to let these jacks go to waste.
or do i leave them hooked up to my mobo and will it work from there? i have the onboard sound card disabled, so i'm thinking not....
anyway,
thanks in advance

Ive been trying to do this too but kinda gave up on it. you could try plugging the front audio into the AUX out on the top of the card but you would need to do some research on the pinout of the AUX port.
but in all likilihood that would work. as for mic, not sure if its a different kind of port than the line in, but thats somthing you could mess with too.

is there a 10 pin white connector on the card ... if so you can but i dont think the older live's have the connector.

That's my brothers card that I'm trying to do this for...
And a few minutes ago I found out that the AUD_EXT is all digital, meaning if you wanted to connect analogue (MIC etc.) you'd need to build a circuit to convert it... I really cant be arsed doing that.
It appears there is no analogue extension pins on this soundcard, I'll have to use splitters on the back of the card, and route cables in through a PCI slot and connect up the front panel that way... why would creative not include analogue pins?
To sell more Live! IR front panels...
