I am going to build a basic AMD system for my kids.. anyone have anysuggestions on what I might use for MoBo and Cpu? I am thinking Duron, but Athlon if the price is right. Not sure if I want to overclock or not, but maybe they can have my system, and I build me a new toy... any suggestions? Items for sale etc.

Basic Gaming, Networking, is about all this machine will be used for.. I already have the case, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and AGP Card.

My second setup is an ECS K7S5A with a Duron 750 @1.0 Ghz. I got a cheap case and psu, used ram I had (it uses either SDRAM or DDR). I am happy with it, and would recommend this setup as an inexpensive computer that o/c's well, if you don't mind fsb only.

My buddy has the same with a 800 Duron, also running at 1.0 Ghz.

Higher end, well, I would say an Epox 8KHA+ with an Athlon. The smaller ones are cheap enough. My 8KHA with an Athlon 1.0Ghz@1.13 is nice...

What is your system? it would help us convince you to pass it along to the kids while building youreself a new rig. well it all depends on your budget and your setup. It might just be better to build the kids a new rig just make sure you involve them and get them hooked on overclocking:D Although that could be a big drain on your wallet.

I made a budget system for my girlfriend using:

Athlon T-bird 1000 MHZ @ 1104 Volcano2 HSF
Shuttle AK31 v3.1 MoBo (cheap, functional, acclaimed motherboard)6PCI, AGP, 4 DIMMs, CNR optional
Ati radeon 7200 video card
128 MB Crucial PC2100 DDR
30 Gig WD 7200 rpm HDD
56x cdrom
Creative SB 16
350w PSU came with case... can't remeber the brand, but it was like $50 and came with a side mounted fan and 10 bays!
Cheapo speakers
Logitech optical mouse
cheapo keyboard
US robotics modem
recycled my old 15" monitor

It was very easy to put together and setup. And this was the 1st computer I ever built or OC'd.

Total @$420-$450 w/o monitor
