View Full Version : PS3 and giant robots BIG in Japan, still more than a Wii bit behind Nintendo

Looks like we've got a bit of global division going on here aside from the Wii which is kicking everybody's tail. 360 is big in the US, little more than a footnote in Japan and the PS3 is big in Japan while struggingly to sell in the US. 175k sales for Gundam in one week is pretty good for a country that doesn't have 6000+ Blockbusters and 4000+ Hollywood videos buying multiple copies to rent.
PSP is selling well too unlike in the US.

The real winner here is Nintendo by a landslide, would you look at the DS sales? CRIKEY!!!!

What a STUNNING victory for the DS... I wish half those games were available in the U.S. but across the board... it's quite incredible.

It's crazy to see the DS with more than half the chart...I wish that Naruto game for the Wii would make it over here! The only things coming out for the Wii in the near future that look any good are Mortal Kombat, Heatseeker, and Tiger Woods.

I didn't think Gundam was even suppose to be that good..I mean none of the others have been I would have thought if any mech game was going to be a big seller it would be armored core.

The Gundam franchise is absolutely HUGE in Japan. Monstrously huge. It's not really a wonder that it was a console mover.

What you have to understand is that they have these RIDICULOUS Gundam MACHINES in Tokyo... they pretty much put the old Battletech stuff to shame...

Wait till super robot taisen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Robot_Wars) comes out in japan, then we might start to see some good sales figures. The japanese sure like their robot games.
